Paws up: Let's Get Ready to Roar, Rise and Conquer this school year!

Welcome to the 2020-2021 school year! As the new Woodford Academy Principal, I am honored and humbled by the opportunity to lead this great school. I have spent the last 23 years in service to students, parents and teachers. Now I am ready to R.O.A.R. while leading the work of educating the next generation of world changers. So what does it mean to R.O.A.R?

Daily, we should all strive to be:

  • Respectful — of ourselves, of each other and of our community
  • Outstanding — fully invest in the work of caring for, nurturing and educating children
  • Attitude — have a "can-do attitude;" be willing to do the work, even when it's challenging
  • Responsible — take responsibility for our actions; own our mistakes and move on

Students are you ready to R.O.A.R?

Students are expected to actively engage in the learning process whether remotely during these first five weeks or in person once we transition into our blended model. All students are taught the "Wildcat Way" and that extends beyond the four walls of the classroom. As a digital learner we expect students to log-in, keep their cameras on and actively participate in their instruction. We encourage students to ask questions, check in with teachers when they are struggling and to limit screen time outside of their school day. Academics are a huge part of our instructional model but we also want students to make time for physical activity such as exercise, riding their bikes, playing outside (safely of course) and just being a kid.

Parents are you ready to R.O.A.R?

At Woodford Academy, parents are our partners. Collectively, we will do great things for all students. As you continue to support your child's learning, we ask that you ensure that they are ready for school each and every day. We cannot do this work alone. As parents we encourage you to stay involved, ask questions of your child and of their teachers. Get connected on Class Dojo, Schoology and Facebook @woodfordpaideia!
